Learning to Draw Raya and the Last Dragon Characters

If you’re up to date on 2021 Walt Disney productions, then you must be familiar with the animation – Raya and the Last Dragon. The movie was incredibly entertaining and the plot was refreshing. Now, just imagine how fun it will be for your kid to draw Raya and the Last Dragon characters.

Some of the favorite characters in the movie were Raya, Boun, and Noi (the con baby, lol). Each character had very colorful features which will provide your kid the opportunity to play with several colors.

Of all the characters, Raya might prove harder to draw, especially if it’s a full picture. This is because her regular outfit has more color and she’s seen to always have extra objects on her, like her hat and sword.  She is usually seen wearing a yellow shirt, olive green trousers, a brown vest, and brown boots. She is a bit muscular, with beautiful black hair, and tanned skin.

Noi and “captain” Boun are smaller since they are just children which will make drawing them a bit easier. Boun, an energetic and business-minded kid has short black hair and wears olive green and brown cloth. Noi, on the other hand, is a little adorable baby who always wore purple clothes with a pink belt.

Teaching Children How to Draw and Color

Drawing is a skill like any other, and it requires a lot of discipline and practice. Teaching kids how to draw isn’t very difficult, however, it requires solid techniques and knowledge of basic concepts. Kids don’t have a very high attention span; hence you have to make it fun for them in order to make them remain interested.

Ideally, the best age to teach children how to draw is around the age of five. However, there have been records of 2-year-olds and 3-year-olds drawing. This is because they’re usually able to sit up on their own and pick up a pencil to scribble without guidance. At this age, they might be unable to draw from memory. But they can be taught observation drawings which involves teaching them how to draw from the appearance of things.

Many times, children refuse to draw because they don’t think they’ll be able to do it right, or maybe they just feel performance anxiety (but who actually really knows what goes on in the heads of those little angels). This is why it is necessary to give them the opportunity to draw without supervision and direction for a while. At least until they’ve grown to enjoy holding a pencil and coloring book.

Children don’t like doing stuff that doesn’t interest them. So, when you want to get them to draw, make sure it is something that they love and have an interest in. For instance, their favorite movie or cartoon character. Which in this case, Raya and the Last Dragon characters are a great fit.

Benefits of Drawing and Coloring for Kids’ Mind

Drawing and coloring are very important skills for children as it helps them develop their hand strength and also help them grip properly. As said earlier, kids have a very low attention span, and if they are able to master drawing at a young age, it will help them focus better on projects and activities in the future.

Also, giving them the opportunity to draw and color encourages them to be creative. And this, in turn brings out the genius in them. Drawing and coloring are very beneficial for the academic and mental abilities of kids, and their importance cannot be over-emphasized.

Conclusion

Teaching your kids to draw Raya and the Last Dragon characters might just be what will get them hooked. The benefits of drawing and coloring for your kid’s mind are limitless. And it will do your child a world of good when drawing and coloring are incorporated into their daily routine. Give them a pencil and some colors and let them get to work learning to draw Raya and the Last Dragon Characters.
